Who'll Kill Agnes edition by Lea Chan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This book was really very entertaining and I couldn't put it down. I could hardly wait to turn the page to find out what was going to happen next. It was hilarious how everyone made fun of Agnes while she thought she was being complimented. And without telling any of the story, the ending was unexpected. I recommend this book.
I want to say right off, that I read this book straight through, laughing most of the way. It was a good, involved, twisted mystery, with bodies strewn everywhere. That's the kind of story I like. It was funny and satisfying.

The writing was clunky, however, and some of the characters were not very well written. I was unable to differentiate between the two cops, and their motivations were not believable to me. Why did they keep investigating the cook after they had decided that Agnes was not murdered? Why did they talk to everyone except their suspect?

However, I was able to skip past the babbling of the cops (they went on and on about whether it was going to rain and the humidity. Who cares?)and get back to the family of suspects who were hilarious. I was actually afraid of the younger sister who was smarter than Agnes, and therefore more dangerous.

So, if you ignore the writing errors (the phrase is TOE the line, not TOW the line!) and the digressions, this is a funny, fun mystery. I would read this author again, now that I know what to expect regarding her "voice."
Decent. Wasn't much of a mystery but it was pretty funny, with comical characters. I enjoyed it. The mystery as I said wasn't much of one as the author made it very clear and obvious. Perhaps that was what helped add to the humour of it. Can't wait to see what this author cooks up next.
I don't give a 5* easy. This one deserves it for no other reason than it made me laugh out loud page after page. It's a funny mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. Loved the characters and cheered for them all to kill Agnes. She was a self serving witch that kept her family tied to her apron strings. Her death was even funny and so deserving. Read and enjoy...you will laugh out loud so read it in private.
This one gets 2 stars for crossing into the "so bad I was entertained" category. I would agree with the reviewer who said it turned into a farce.

Characters and plot started out interesting, but nothing really seems to GO anywhere, just degenerate into stupidity. The Christie angle would have made more sense if the detective had READ any Christie books. And despite being a Rex Stout fan boy, he was no Nero Wolfe or Archie Goodwin.

Still, for 99 cents, worth the camp factor.
WHO'LL KILL AGNES--LEA CHAN
This is a really fun who done it. Agnes Briar committed a crime thirty years that led to her power over friends and family. The only foreseeable flaw in her life his her only sons trailer trash wife whom she plans to get rid of. Her husband wants Agnes dead for her wealth and he plots with Agnes' sister Audrey, her companion, Penny and the young wife of Kevin who all have various reasons to hate old Aggie. When Agnes is found dead by the family chef, face down in her salad greens the town sherriff and his deputy set out to nail the culprit as they didn't believe it was accidental. The suspect list is a long one but the murderer will surprise you.
This is a fantastic book about getting revenge done in a humorous way. The family is filthy rich and eccentric and soon learn that karma is a bitch and what goes around comes around. You'll laugh so hard you'll cry but you might not feel pity for the victims. I recommend this to anyone who loves a whodunit and comedy all in one. 5 X's are given to a fun story.
This novel is a delightful tangle of plot twists and surprises, served up with humor and a huge tip of the hat to Agatha Christie and her "parlor" or "house party" kind of mystery where most of the action takes place in a huge estate home. Many eccentric characters (and little restaurants!), very much true to real life in a small Southern town where one wealthy eccentric family "looms" over the townfolks, and where gossip is the main means of communication, carry the story forward in waves of ever-startling surprises! I am very good at picking out the "villain" in mysteries and judge a mystery by how quickly (or how long it takes me) to find the villain(s). WELL! Guess what. Without ruining the story for you...the end of this book caught me off guard. And for me, that is the test of a really GOOD mystery. Hats off to Lea Chan/Pat Hernandez, a friend of mine in real life! This is a delightful and fun read. P.S. LOVED the "French Chef."
